Microsoft Edge keeps making itself the default PDF viewer instead of acrobat

This is a dup thread for one that was started in 2020. Same stuff is still happening. I'm about 5 minutes from uninstalling Edge. If my PC reboots, Edge takes over PDFs. So annoying

    I had this issue and solved it by

    Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps. Under the "Choose default apps" section, locate the entry for Microsoft Edge and click on it. Select the default program as Microsoft Edge.

    Once it accepts the setting, repeat the above and set it to Adobe Acrobat.

    The first two steps didn't work for me. I tried the third one and then looked for .pdf and selected Acrobat, it worked.
