"Resolving Host" is making the new Microsoft Edge unusable.

Updated to new version of Edge a couple weeks ago and am looking for a way to 'downgrade' to the old version... or recommendations for a non-chromium based, secure browser.

Why?  Because the 'Resolving Host' delay that Edge is now performing on just about EVERY web page is driving me nuts.  Delays page loading by 2 - 10 seconds on EVERY PAGE.  How is that better?

I've tried clearing Edge's cache, Windows cache, changing dns to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and to the two IP's specified by my ISP (in addition to relying on my router's handling of DNS), rebooting modem+router/PC.  Nothing has helped.  

Any other suggestions?  Perhaps point me down a better path?

    I've been having the exact same issue. Started recently. Edge is totally unusable stuck on "Resolving host" for 2-10 seconds on every single page click. Was very annoying. Disabling "Automatic Proxy Detection" did fix the issue for me as well. But is this really a fix if the OS has this option set by default and Edge as the default browser?

    Using Windows 10, go to settings, then system, then open computer proxy settings, turn off "automatically detect settings". It solved my issue.

    I had the same issue with Windows 10 and long load times. The Resolve Host was displaying. I followed someone else's lead and uninstalled the Malwarebytes program I had been running in the background. Presto. Issue with Resolve Host...Resolved!

    Yes that looks to be the location of the cache files / history.    Thank you.   Unfortunately it's not helping me understand why Edge goes so slowly after a while.   Had it have been writing these files to somewhere really strange and slow, I could perhaps understand it, but this is to s SSD drive that's pretty responsive.     The only other thing that might make a difference is the 64bit version versus 32 bit.   The problematic one is the 64bit version.

    Brian, I did the same just now and it works. We'll see for how long because someone last week gave me directions and it worked but 2-3 days later it didn't.

    So thank you very much for this recommendation!!!

    Does anyone get to talk to a real person at Msoft to determine what the hell they are doing about this issue? Not much from what I can tell as I just cannot believe they haven't communicated with us users about this issue.
