"Resolving Host" is making the new Microsoft Edge unusable.

Updated to new version of Edge a couple weeks ago and am looking for a way to 'downgrade' to the old version... or recommendations for a non-chromium based, secure browser.

Why?  Because the 'Resolving Host' delay that Edge is now performing on just about EVERY web page is driving me nuts.  Delays page loading by 2 - 10 seconds on EVERY PAGE.  How is that better?

I've tried clearing Edge's cache, Windows cache, changing dns to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and to the two IP's specified by my ISP (in addition to relying on my router's handling of DNS), rebooting modem+router/PC.  Nothing has helped.  

Any other suggestions?  Perhaps point me down a better path?

    To fix your problem:

    hit the windows logo key + S, select internet options, select advanced, scroll to the security section, locate “warn about certifictes mismatch option”, uncheck it, click apply and ok. 

    you should be fixed!

    When I get to Smart Screen for Microsoft Edge, nothing comes up that looks like that. What to do?

    I don't understand how computers work, but Edge was running very slowly so I tried this (i.e. turning off delivery optimization and rebooting).  So far, it seems to have worked miracles.  Thanks!

    Unchecking the TCP/IPv6 setting in Network Connections did the trick for my girlfriends RESOLVING HOST delay.

    just got blessed with the Edge upgrade.  Initially it failed with a fail message in Update History, I had both legacy and new Edge on the desktop and taskbar. They would both work sometimes, other times  "resolving host" until the browser gave up.  Uninstalled the new Edge, downloaded the install from MS and ran it.  Legacy Edge icons went away, only new Edge on desktop and taskbar.  Things seemed good after that, but the "resolve host" message came back.  I disabled Malwarebytes (didn't uninstall, no service running) and disable the add blocker extension. May have been reboots in there, but things again seemed to be OK. Surprise its back.  I uninstalled updated Edge, legacy Edge came back, I then told Windows Update to leave Edge alone (guest I will see how long that lasts).  The machine that I did all this on was a new Surface Pro 7, very clean.  I have an old original Surface pro 1 still working and the new Edge is working fine as far as I can tell, don't use it much anymore.  Main problem is my wife is using my older laptop to work from home right now and I really don't need it to get broken by MS.  I have disabled updates as far into the future as possible as well as told Windows update to leave Edge alone.  Guess all this to say, until MS takes responsibility to fix it, it is something that has to be worked around. Multiple people having multiple solutions that appear to work is a very frustrating position to be in.
