Profile picture in new Microsoft Edge won't update

The new Microsoft Edge won't update my profile picture; it is still using an old one.

Steps that I have taken:

1.  I have updated the picture twice online in my Microsoft account.

2.  I have deleted the old picture from both of my Windows 10 systems.

3.  I have deleted my Edge profile several times.

4.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Edge.

Nothing that I have done seems to help. Would like to know if this is a bug or something else is going on.

    The followings work for me:

    1. Go to C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default
    2. Create a image file with your profile picture, name it as "Edge Profile Picture.png" if it doesn't exist. 

    This one actually worked for me, but with an additional fix. Simply renaming a particular JPG photo as Edge Profile Photo.png will result in a corrupted picture on the upper right of the Microsoft Edge Chromium browser. So what I did was to use Snipping Tool to snip (original size) at the existing JPG photo, then SAVE it as a legitimate Edge Profile Photo.PNG on C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Profile 1. Of course, you need to DELETE FIRST THE ORIGINAL Edge Profile Photo.PNG you are trying to replace so that there is only ONE Edge Profile Photo.PNG at C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Profile 1.     ... although the photo appears correctly in the Microsoft account, Edge is not updating.  

    Try this:

    1. Click on Settings and more ⋯ and then on ⚙ Settings.
    2. On the Your profile page that opens, click Sign out.
    3. Close down all instances of the browser and check in Task Manager (Ctrl-Shift-Escape) that msedge.exe is no longer running.
    4. Copy this black line:

    "%localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default" 5. Press Windows key + R to open a run box, press Ctrl-V to paste what you copied into the box and press Enter.  This should open the folder containing all the user data for your default profile. 6. Look for the file called Edge Profile Picture.pngand delete it if it exists. Close File Explorer when you're finished. 7. Re-launch Edge and now sign in again. This should cause the browser to fetch a fresh, current copy of the Microsoft Account profile picture.

    The Edge account seems to be synced with Windows account.

    I opened Windows Settings->Accounts->Email & accounts. Remove the account there and the account showed error in Edge. Then sign again in Edge, the picture is updated correctly.

    What helped me is I just signed out of my account in the browser and then signed in again. :) 

    That worked for me. I was closing down the browser and reopening it and that wasn't enough. I had to actually sign completely out, then sign back in with that account. That fixed it.
