Troubleshooting browser crashes or performance issues on Windows 10

My Microsoft Edge browser keeps freezing up. I have tried all the suggested solutions with no success. I like the design and functionality offered by Edge, but will change to Firefox until I get a notice that Microsoft has fixed the problem with Edge freeze ups.

I came here looking for an answer to the same problem. I have tried all sorts of solutions found online. Including reinstalling, clearing all cached info, etc...
Eric,
FYI. For me, Edge started freezing after your update! Edge loads, but I can't click on the search bar or open a story. Sometimes when I refresh the page, parts of it will work, sometimes not. Resetting, reloading, and reinstalling have not solved this problem.
Mine locks up immediately and task manager shows 100% usage. I've been using google chrome for almost a year now. I cry it once in awhile and I have the same problem.
That's a really bad solution just to get a browser working. Fair enough nobody needs skype, but you need windows updates. If that's the only thing that gets Edge working then just use Chrome, they're both Chromium browsers anyway.
I just did a completely new install of Windows 10. Narrowed problem down to 2 things: 1. installation of Skype or 2. installation of optional updates. Don't know which one, since I installed both at same time, but it duplicated the problem. New install eliminated problem by not installing either.
