My Microsoft Edge browser keeps freezing up. I have tried all the suggested solutions with no success. I like the design and functionality offered by Edge, but will change to Firefox until I get a notice that Microsoft has fixed the problem with Edge freeze ups.

I have been having problems with Edge freezing up as well. I will try to scroll through a slide show or sometimes hit continue reading and nothing will happen. If I wait, I get a message that it won't binge watch and 2 boxes. One box says wait and the other one says leave page. If I hit leave page, I get another box with error code RESULT_CODE_HUNG. If I click on this I can view one more page on a slideshow and then the same thing happens again. I have tried every possible fix listed here and a few others. If Microsoft wants me to continue using Edge, they need to fix this. This just started happening 2 days ago.

I've been fighting this problem on my desktop for at least six months; tried every suggested fix, including uninstalling and reinstalling Edge, but nothing helped. I too would like to use all the Microsoft included apps, but neither Chrome, nor Firefox give me any problems. I use Edge on my Pavilion Laptop with no problems.
If someone has any "new" ideas, I would greatly appreciate hearing them.
Hi Ban Nukes,
I would like to get more information. Is it randomly freezing or freezing on a certain website?
Eric
Eric,
Mine has been doing this for a week or so as well, but mostly laughably, just on MSN news pages, but every single one!
Version 89.0.774.45 (Official build) (64-bit) Up to date.
Does not do this with Chrome.
I reset Edge to defaults, and deleted any extensions, but I put LastPass extension back in after that did not fix it either.
Turning off hardware acceleration had zero effect. All MSN pages stop responding.
Again, Chrome does not.
I would love to just have what comes with Windows and not have to resort to add-ons to use it.
Have suffered freezing over the last 4-5 weeks progressively more often simply browsing standard pages,
What are the symptoms of this 'freeze'?
I sometimes find that a page becomes unresponsive to mouse clicks or keypresses. When this happens, I find that a right-click on the title bar (which is directed to Windows, not Edge) is usually enough to spark the page into life. If it isn't, selecting Browser task manager from the control menu works to free up the page.
Before dismissing the BTM, I check to see what the GPU process is up to. If it's consuming more than about 100MB of memory, I end the process, which causes it to restart and behave properly again.
YMMV, of course.
