Why does the new version of edge want to turn my web camera "ON"

I have been using the new version of edge for a while now and have come to notice every time it loads up the software tries to turn the webcam connected to the computer "ON".

As I do not use Skype or there is no reason for Edge to need the camera I find it unreasonale for Microsoft to think it has a right to spy on me at my computer by using the camera without asking.I have put black tape over the camera lens on every computer I own that has a camera ( 2 Desktops and 3 Laptops).

This begs me to wonder what other means Microsoft is using to spy on our computers without our consent, I do wonder if there are people who have computers in their bathrooms and do not know they are being watched via the pinhole camera on top of the screen or watching some ones daughter as she is doing her homework on her computer unaware the camera is looking down her cleavage.

    I just purchased Kasperksy, because Chrome does it as well. Kaspersky has a dedicated camera locker you can toggle to on and off very easily. You'll find every time you open any browser, your webcam is accessed. Kaspersky blocks it every time

    So you are saying there is language in the agreement that Microsoft has a right to peep in on you? If so, then please share that citation. Stay focus pscarbor and stop the crazy talk/conflation/deviation/ranting of the issue.

    Now here is your chance to prove your point and prove me wrong. After all you said you read it and since our last converse, I have too. I admit it took a few days (it was like eating corn flakes without milk). However I found no language stating that they have a explicit or implicit right to "view" their users without permission or notification.

    But cite me wrong. Please share your awesome knowledge with us, the World does care. We care about all the pscarbors in the world.

    To the rest of us, question. Has anyone contacted the media about this?

    To remind you, why do you believe that it is acceptable for Microsoft to access anyone Webcam without their knowledge?

    Trust me, it's not a difficult question.

    Methinks you are reading it wrong, but to clarify:- I DO NOT think its acceptable at all

    I have started to notice this as well, yet you seem to believe this is acceptable? Why is it acceptable to access anyone Webcam without them knowing about it, do explain?

    And BTW, because you can is not an answer.
