Microsoft Edge Freezes in Office 365 Outlook With Overlays - Mac OS

I'm having a very specific issue with Microsoft Edge where it freezes whenever I use Outlook (0365 Education on the web), and it produces an overlay of some type. This occurs when I open an email attachment, preview a message, and select a menu item that creates a confirmation overlay (for example when selecting 'empty folder'). It seems to be restricted to this behavior, and it reoccurs very frequently. I have tried the following:

  • Cleared Cache
  • Disabled / Removed Plugins
  • Reinstalled Edge

I'm currently using Microsoft Edge Version 107.0.1418.52 (Official build) (arm64). I'm on a MacBook Air M1 MacOS Monterey V 12.6 (21G115).

I'm wondering if there is a known issue with this type of behavior specifically. Thanks in advance for any insight.

UPDATE, EDITED (DEC 7): After a few weeks, this issue still persists on all builds on and after 107.0.1418.52. I have opened a ticket with Microsoft. While the solution kindly provided by par_0511 allows you to roll back, no fix has been applied. In my case, I cannot use Edge on a production machine due to the age of the last working version.

terry.schoof/Thom Hanford, Can you please try downloading >= 108.0.1462.46 build and share whether it works for you or not? You can download it from this page Microsoft Edge (see below image)

    I'm currently using Microsoft Edge version 107.0.1418.62 (official build, arm64) and getting the same issues. I tried the 108.0.1462.35 (official build) *beta* and there's still the same issues.

    I was having the same issue whenever I tried to open an attachment in OWA using Microsoft Edge. It was happening with version 107.0.1418.62 every time. Downgraded to 107.0.1418.56 with the same issues. Downgraded again to version 107.0.1418.42 and can confirm it is stable. Microsoft, please let us know when this issue is resolved. Thank you

    Latest version of Edge is still freezing - 107.0.1418.62.

    I have been using Chrome and it is fine. Bit painful to install my extensions, etc... but no crashes :)

    I recently had a support ticket with Microsoft on this. I'm not sure if that will result in escalation, but I'm hoping putting it in front of them makes it more likely to be addressed. The tech support person suggested I submit feedback. You can vote it up - though it's a bug, not a feature request.
