Right, again, talking about different but related things in the same thread. Not gonna argue a point you don't want to hear. Thanks for the shot, it is helpful.
And I was referring to you starting with "WRONG" and then a curt reply. Guess I must have misinterpreted the tone there. Sorry for that!
Have a great one!
Sorry, it is not wrong, what has happened is that the change is forced to personal microsoft accounts. When you log out of your account on Edge, you will have the "old style" collections experience, just as if you logged into a work or school account.
Again, you need to be logged in to a personal account to see the new experience. If any other condition is true, you won't.
Incidentally the add all option is not the only thing that changed. Poke around and you will find other options that are missing or actually are bugs that don't work.
Known issue - see below
Microsoft Engineering Teams have already confirmed this is a bug months ago. Check earlier threads.
There is only one version of it. It does not revert to a different or previous version when you log out, it just gives you the add to collections option back for open tabs.
First, there is not only one version of collections, and it is absolutely dependent on what account you are using in Edge. Look at hermes and my screenshots, or check yourself, the collections pane is entirely different and has different contextual menus within the collections pane. There is even a separate account sign in process attached to it.
Ergo, this separate experience on purpose and by design. If there is something wrong with the design that is a separate point. Obviously it is broken (buggy). He (and I) didn't comment on how buggy or not the new experience was in that post, just that is was a problem attached to using personal accounts in Edge, not in Edge itself.
Second, if you knew something was a confirmed bug it would have been more helpful to say that right away and include the link you are talking about; your post could be seen as abrasive.
Not sure if you are an Insider or have chosen fast track updates, but this wasn't rolled out months ago to the average Joe, that's why people are complaining about it so recently. Since this is the newer thread, they will come here first instead of whatever "previous threads" you reference.
At the end of the day we are all in the same boat. It's broken and forced on us. Which is typical, and frustrating for everyone.
First - THIS thread , page one Eric-SE Microsoft Agent (5-1-23) confirmed the issue and that it was with engineering teams. Second.... Collections is supposed to work identically in respect to the 'add tabs to collections' no matter the type of account hence the bug. Abrasive is stating as if it were a fact that there is not a bug because you have decided to point out how the functionality between using edge as a logged in user vs not logged in points to working as designed when that is not the case. My replies have always been in response to those stating it is working properly or that is it meant to now work differently depending on how you are logged in.
