Internet Explorer mode gone?

Hello Microsoft Community,

For the past 2 months I had been using and testing IE Mode integration within the chromium version of the Edge Browser.

I had the "Enable IE integration" enabled in edge://flags and had been running Edge in admin with the command line "--ie-mode-test"

This was working on Friday 29th May but this morning 1st June the option in "More tools > Open in Internet Explorer Mode" is no longer present.

Any ideas or has IE integration moved exclusively to Local Group Policy ?

    This did not help. Several other options are grayed out as well.

    Hi iFiredog,

    Yes IE is activated. This is a State program that as of right now only works with IE 11. We are county managed so the state will not help with this:( 

    When they open the website to the state they click on a link that takes them to another page where they have to click another link that prompts Java to open the program. I have everything else working with Edge pertaining to their site just not edge. I was able to work around not having any options under Internet Explorer compatibility as shown above.

    I hope this helps you.

    1. Open Edge Chromium
    2. Go to URL: edge://compat/enterprise

    This will go into the Enterprise Mode Site List

    1. There should be a path to where this file is located.

    On my system: file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Microsoft%20Edge/SiteList.xml

    Translates To: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Edge\SiteList.xml

    1. Open the file  text editor in Admin mode.
    2. Go the the very end of the file.
    3. Copy/paste the last entry and change the url to the appropriate URL.

      <site url="mydomain.com">

        <compat-mode>Default</compat-mode>

        <open-in>IE11</open-in>

      </site>

    </site-list>

    1. Click Force Update
    2. You should see it on the list now.  It is sorted automatically by alpha.

    *://mydomain.com/          IE11          False

    1. Open a new tab and type in mydomain.com.
    2. Next to the URL, there should now be a IE icon indicating it is in IE Compat mode.  
    3. Test and verify as needed.

    Actually, nmv about those steps since those are for canary before IE after flags. 

    edge://compat/iediagnostic

    Please go to that link above and see the diagnostic data. Does it say that it was a success or anything? If it still doesn't' help, please send feedback after downloading the data and putting that into the diagnostic data in the feedback option.

    Hi Joe,

    Yes the setting is back for me in compat settings also however I still don't see the option in 'more tools' to reload a page in IE Mode. 

    Can you confirm if you can see it ?
