Whenever I needed to view a pdf I always used Edge because it has a table of contents in the sidebar, but now that I'm using the new Edge, it no longer seems to have that, I was just wondering if this is a feature that hasn't been integrated yet, or if there's an alternate way of getting it back.

The table of contents feature is now available in the Stable release Edge 86 released October 9th.

This is more than unacceptable! It is stupid! Why change something of value to users only to replace it with some non functioning product/feature. As alluded to by many, the TOC is valuable for not just individuals but businesses who work with pdfs all the time. My question to Microsoft is "Who's idea was it" and who authorized it? At least give your users (customers) the option to upgrade themselves not auto-upgrade, like you know exactly what my needs are. But clearly you don't.
Microsoft, please restore that function or you find your user /customers switching to anther products. Thank God for options.
Very very BAD IDEA and I cannot express enough how disappointed I am with Microsoft for this.
I have a 7-THOUSAND page document I need to write a brief about and I need to be able to cite exhibits/chapters and page numbers, and I can no longer find bookmarks. I didn't ask for or authorize this update and now I can't even do my work. This is absolutely unacceptable.
When pdf is open you can hit CTRL + F
It will open a rectangle box below the address bar and
type in what ever you looking to find

With the latest dev build you can get edge to reading a pdf
see the pic at the top -- where it says --
Read Aloud CTRL+SHIFT+U
It takes like 15 seconds for it to start reading, but it does read a pdf.
They is saying they looking to get the TOC worked out soon.
An they is really want feedback on the developer forums.

Apparently the post a CANARY build that has a can on the icon
Them Canary builds get posted almost nightly.
The dev builds get posted like every week.
Then the stable builds get posted every, well I forgets
but is a few weeks or something.

I get your point now.
Seems that this is due to the new Edge browser's update. Currently, I cannot answer you that.
Rather, I will check on this issue, and see what else we can do about it. Moreso, I will also ask the technical team regarding this because it's possible that this feature might be added in another way to do it. Where it should have been the same as before since like you, the users, are used to doing it, the way it should have been done.
