How do I remove Microsoft Edge From Windows 10?

I've poked around and all threads on this question seem to have been locked. I'm not sure why we're forced to have edge installed if we don't want it. Can someone please provide exact instructions on how to remove Edge?

Hey there, everyone

Microsoft Edge cannot be uninstalled from Windows. This is because the browser is built into Windows - but gets updates separately from the Windows Update client. 

No matter which command you decide to run in PowerShell, this will not work. You can, of course, use an alternative browser. To do this, please download and install a browser of your choice though the Microsoft Store, or though the web browser. 

Once you launch the other web browser, such as Chrome, it will ask you if you want to make that browser a default browser. Once you select this, everything should open in Chrome, and not Edge. 

For those who are saying that Microsoft is forcing you to use Edge. You can use a different browser instead of Edge. Just like, if you were using an iPhone, you can install another browser instead of the built-in browser called Safari. Android systems have a built-in browser too, which cannot be uninstalled, but you are able to use a different browser too. 

Is this something new? No, browsers have always been built into the OS. Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 have Internet Explorer which is built into the OS. Windows 8, 8.1, 10 also have Edge built in too.

    What do you mean by that: "we don't recommend to Uninstall it because it's a part of core piece of ....." :)

    what if I do not want you in my computer (I assume this is spying on me or tracking my online activity)

    I do not want it. If I remove Edge will it kill my system?

    I just removed it and apparently I can still use my computer? :P

    How's that ?

    PowerShell and command:  .\setup.exe --uninstall --system-level --force-uninstall solving the problem with stubborn EDGE ****.

    You can track me, I don't care.

    I will also opted against vaccination :)

    Viruses everywhere ..... 

    Funny thing, I wasn't even logged in to my Microsoft account.How did you knew which account belongs to me and how you've managed to connect it without letting me know you just logged me in to live.com if I wasn't there for a months and months??

    Session data should be already long gone and it should ask me for login details I assume.

    Perhaps the SMART programmers at Microsoft can tell us how to remove this virus (Edge) they have inflicted upon us.

    I couldn't even exit the "Welcome to Microsft Edge" screen at boot up and had to end it's task lol - the only option was to proceed with it.

    I put off this update for as long as I could, pretty much.  Just installed tonight, and - just like MichaelMorrison7 - I couldn't get away from the "Edge boot-up" screen, and was forced to kill the task.

    Since "TrustedInstaller" is the owner of the "C:\Windows\SystemApps

    Find Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe" folder, it's not even allowing me to rename (as Administrator).   I know that I can change the ownership as MM7 has done - but I figure I will wait and see just what other unrequested changes MS has made to my configuration. 

    I am definitely not a "one-stop-shop" kinda guy either, and browser-choice is not negotiable.  I've always been a proponent, for the most part, for MS in the PC/Notebook OS arena (as a s/w dev with plenty of unix, linux, OS/X experience as well as some obscure platforms lol) - they have got to realize that folks that want all those decisions made FOR them are using Mac OS/X variants etc..  PC users don't generally want the OS to "own", or "be" the experience for them. 

    I rant.

    Just thought I'd chime in that the Edge bootup was rather "unfriendly" -- I haven't even checked my default programs/extensions and etc.. and I may be removing the folder soon enough.  Just want it to "go away" lol..
