My wife's computer had the same problem.  I fixed it by clicking on the 3 dots on the "pop-up" and options came up to turn off all notifications in Microsoft Edge, when I did that the "pop-up's" stopped.

1st thing is to completely remove McAfee if it is in the system/machine. See below*.

Are you using Windows Defender or do you, actually have McAfee installed? You should be using Windows Defender so, either way follow the following recommendations:

  1. In the OS Settings search box type Pop-ups and hit Block or allow pop-ups

That will give you the following window. Check, Turn on pop-up blocker & hit OK

  1. In Edge Settings under Cookies & site permissions make sure the 2 things indicated are set to Blocked

    *3. Employ the McAfee Removal Tool - Download McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR) - MajorGeeks

And/OR

  1. Employ The Revo Uninstaller Tool (Use the one on the left, Revo Uninstaller Freeware) - Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download
  2. (Now) Window Defender Security runs by default if & when no 3rd Party security programme or software is in the OS, at all.

    Cool, good on you 👍👍. If you look back in this thread, that was my original recommendation to people in regard to this issue. Yes, McAfee pop-ups ARE part of & because of McAfee.

    Don't have 3rd party A-Vs = happiness.

    (But Edge can & will block ads & other pop-ups)

    I finally found out that these pop ups have nothing to do with a browser, but come directly from the McAfee product. McAfee provides no way to disable them. The only way to get rid of them is to uninstall McAfee completely and use another anti virus program. I did that and the pop ups are gone.

    Yes, just my 2₵... Often Folks may not realize all the power(s), settings and abilities in Edge. For example, it has meant being ad & pop-up free, since the onset which, for me, was when 1st available 😊 Oh & that's without any "ad blocker". (One was used prior to Edge.)

    That's ☝️ just a tip of the iceberg. Often things are 'missed' just a lack of awareness.

    Wander through ALL the Settings, there's so much offered that may come as a pleasant surprise. And the tailored result 👍👍

    Knowing what's there, in Settings, can be nice (for lack of a better word 😂).

    And just sharing a friendly thought; not 'preaching' or anything 'cocky'.
