How to prevent Microsoft Start page from coming up when I click on a news article in the New Tab page?

Starting today (1/4/2022), whenever I click on a news article in the New Tab page, the Microsoft Start page is displayed instead. How do I stop that from happening?

    but how do i stop it?? I AM SO FED UP WITH MS!! I AM READY TO GO TO APPLE!! MS TAKES OVER MY COMPUTER & I CAN NOT DELETE THEIR CRAPPY UPDATES.
