Google search Redirects to Yahoo Search - Can't open Google on Edge Chromium

maybe you can imagine that your advice was the very first thing that came to my mind as well. The procedure didn't work, as I tried to point out, because the reason for the browser's erratic behaviour is  not the wrong settings, but a browser redirect probably by the means of a hijacking code injection. I wouldn't dare to ask a question I could've figured out myself already.

Again. Doesn't it strike you as odd, that the adress "http://www.imgdownmarch.com" is part of that redirect and that directly calling it up is prompted by the error message "Requested page not found!", all the while it serves as an intermediate for that redirect? This one doesn't even exist according to any dns server I can operate my search queries to.

How about the fact, that the internet community knows for sure and for a long time already, that those redirects are probably caused by a virus or a code written somewhere into the browser's registry.

Unfortunately I'm no wizz with that part of Windows, and fiddling around with it might makes things worse if I don't know exactly what I'm doing. That is why I'm asking for your advice here. The software Malwarebytes I used to find anything malicious could only point me to it's suspicions. Nothing really out of the ordinary, and nothing really that connects to Edge Chromium or registry entries related to it.

So I'm kind of out of options. But this is a Microsoft site, right? Shouldn't you be capable to give tips and come up with tricks beyond the procedure that comes to an average user's mind first?

I agree to a certain extend, that all those measures these articles offer as possible solution  combined, might prevent a computer and it's software to be altered by unwanted intrusion. I do have some experience with measuring up to that but as it happens, there is the day when all that was not good enough.

Although privacy is a major concern to me and security a top level issue as well, all efforts to keep everything save and running are stall mate as soon as any update is installed or new software comes along. To constantly keep in mind what's at stake when it comes to those two issues is a drag and a manufactured one on top of that.

So it works out to be a deal between those two and certainly not to my full satisfaction.

Currently I have installed uMatrix and Adblock Plus on all browsers, two common addons that are supposed to deliver. Besides that I have to trust Google's and Microsoft's policies, when it comes to their preventive measures offering bits and bytes with backdoors as big as gates. Apparently even they have problems with that, as those articles you suggested make out.

So what can I do in a case of harm done already? Right now I switched to Chrome in order to get things done. That as a fact shouldn't sit well with mods of a Microsoft help forum.

Kindly check and try the steps below and see how it goes.

• Open MS Edge
• Click on the 3 dots
• Click on Settings
• Click on Privacy, search and services
• Scroll at the bottom and click on Address bar and search
• On Search engine used in the address bar, check if the correct search engine is set and change it accordingly
• On Manage search engines, also check whichever you have in there and click on the 3 dots if you want to remove the ones that you do not want to use
