Feature Update version 20H2 installation stuck at 61%

I recently opted into the WIndows Insider Program as a Beta User, and ever since, the feature update is continuously getting stuck at 61% in installation stage. I have tried troubleshooting, but it doesn't work as well. Is there any solution to this apart from a fresh install? I do not want to reinstall all my programs afresh.

Please remove all instances of the Conexant audio drivers, disable the devices in Device Manager, delete the driver files in File Explorer, then retry the update.

Good to see you have it installed, yes keeping the bios and drivers up to date by checking manually at the manufacturer's web site is best, as the  device manager no longer goes online to search for the latest drivers so don't use that method for checking driver updates.  Even using Windows's update for drivers won't get the best drivers to use sometimes either.

Until they have a fix for Conexant drivers at least you know now how to get around the issue for the next update.

To be clear on the steps:

  1. I remove all the audio devices from here:

  1. download and install the 20H2 update
  2. ?

I leave the UCI64*.dll files were they are?

Thanks for your help and patience :)

  1. Should be Disable the audio devices.
  2. Uninstall the drivers from the devices in step 1.
  3. Check for updates and install the latest version for your device.
  4. Re-enable the disabled devices (if they are not automatically re-enabled).

That should be it.

    Uninstall any Conexant Audio drivers that you may have installed. Then perform the update and reinstall the drivers after. That was the solution that worked for me. I was using an Asus Zenbook. Sometimes drivers pose an issue with windows updates I learned.

    So here's something interesting...some computers that already have Windows 10 installed (like with versions 20H2, 2004, etc) are failing to complete 21H1 update and ending with errors, either via Windows Update or with the use of the media creation tool in-place update.

    I was recently able to get two different computers to install 21H1 after prior failures by doing two things:

    1. Installing all pending available driver updates from the optional Windows Updates screen.
    2. Prior to starting the update, unplugging any connected USB devices (including mice, wired network adapters, various USB-C devices, etc).
