Browsers crashing on 25272 to 25300 - Display Resolution Bug - Temporarily Solved

Chrome, Edge & Firefox, all crash and the OS becomes unresponsive, I can't recover it unless I shutdown.

Anyone else seeing this?

Update:

A temporary solution is to use recommended display resolution or change to MS basic display driver.

I added build 25290 to the tiltle because even though the blog calls it fixed, some users are still experiencing this bug.

    Here I have all 3 browsers, Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox open.

    Plus the setting screen showing the recommended resolution 3840 x 2160. No problem. 🤷‍♂️

    Any other resolution fails. 🤣🤣

    The monitor comes with the laptop. It worked with the recommended resolution of 3840 x 2160 before the 25272 Windows Update.

    In addition, reproducing videos often finish crashing the browser or causes weird behaviors.

    That is strange, I have 3 machines with 4K screens, and they all work fine with the recommended resolution of 3840 x 2160, but they all fail with any other resolution. Exactly the opposite of what you are describing. 🤷‍♂️ I use a scale of 150%.

    Nvidia Driver 528.24, RTX 2060, RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti.

    Also, I have a very old MSI laptop with Nvidia GTX 670M with driver 391.35 Dated 3/23/2018 and Max res of 1920 x 1080 same as recommended, and that never fails with any resolution I try. 🤣🤣

    i have a surface pro 4 with this same issue

    i just thought it was my SP4 untill some put this on a page id opened for advice

    Same issue with my SP4

    Changing the resolution to anything but "recommended" worked for me.

    Still buggy screen issues as Windows gives a weird "overlays" of my Edge browser, which "fade away" when I move the coursor to the edges of the screen.

    Changing the Hardware accleration - as mentioned in another Thread did not work for me.

    Cristian,

    I was not asking the max resolution of the Nvidia adapter/driver, but the one of the actual screen.

    If the screen cannot support the recommended resolution it is not going to work.

    In your case, as a temporary workaround use the suggestion on page one.

    Uninstall the Nvidia driver and use the Microsoft basic display driver supplied by windows.

    Then wait for a fix from Microsoft on future Builds. 🤷‍♂️
