Clean Install of Windows 11 Ni Preview Build works with Build 22557, but not with 22563, 22567, 22572, 22581, 22593, 25115

I created all 5 installation ISO files for all 5 Builds, but only 22557 contains all the system Apps required for a full clean install, the other 4 are missing all the basic Windows and System Apps needed for a functional system. Also, the App required for opening Windows Security (Microsoft.SecHeatlthUI) is missing, all this makes the resulting system unusable.

Last one on 22557.

Microsoft.SecHealthUI Microsoft.SecHealthUI_1000.22557.1.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

I noticed another issue common to all the Ni builds, if they are used for an upgrade or in-place they may only work correctly if they are done online allowing the check for updates.

If I use the option "Change how Setup download updates" to "Not right now", the upgrade or update in place still completes, but it creates a problem on subsequent W.U.

In this case W.U. goes in a loop trying to Download and Install the same Build over and over. Error 0xc1900401 is logged in that case.

I could not find a way out of that loop.

If I do the same upgrade or update in place online letting the Setup check for updates, as recommended, the process may complete correctly without subsequent W.U. loop issues, but the behavior is inconsistent depending on how the previous update was done.

The official MS Insider ISO 22579 includes all the required Apps and the Microsoft.SecHealthUI which is needed for opening Security.

Thanks and thanks to Johnny as well.

Unfortunately for me, it has the Home Edition built-in and that causes me trouble when I have to update it to Pro from the Store. Don't ask me why? but that process not always ends well.

I'll wait for the others to catch up, I have no urgency to clean install except to test stuff and that can wait.

Probably your original PC had the Home Edition saved in the BIOS.

I can easily extract just the install.wim for Pro and make and ISO or an installation USB with just Pro.

There is an easy DISM command for doing that.

If they can build it correctly at deskmodder I'm sure they'll figure it out at github too.

Hopefully in another week or two.

From the comments on the German site they have ISOs built with and without the Apps.

We need the ones that include the Apps. ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ

The list of installed Apps is quite long, compared to the other ISOs that we tried before.

    @Sibro.o, @Johnny_55,

This last ISO that I downloaded works fine with clean install, all the Apps are there including MS Store and Microsoft.SecHealthUI.

I'll make a list with PowerShell command to see which apps are preinstalled, everything is there on the Start Menu and in the Applications folder. No problem opening security either.

Finally, this looks like a normal OOBE clean install.

The ISO is the one on the bottom of this list for en-us. Thanks to Birkuli I guess. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It has 15 editions, but the install.wim is still below 4GiB so I did not need to convert anything, just mounted and copied to a FAT32 USB and did a clean install, it worked great.

I hope the guys at github figure out what is needed to include all the Apps so that we can just use the converter again.

    HiDrive

That looks like the one, it had like 15 OS variants to export so took out the N ones when I converted wim to esd.

    Regards,

The install.wim in this one is still below 4GiB, we'll see if it has everything that is needed, 15 editions.

I'll let you know if it has the Apps or not.

    thanks.
