Sync issue in Mail app

Windows Insider Dev build 22449.1000. The Mail app is failing to download any messages with the error code 0x80090001. I have tried deleting the email account and entering it again but still the same result. Wi-Fi connection is functioning normally and email via the web browser functions normally.

UPDATE

Now installed new Dev build 22454.1000. The app still does not sync but now no longer shows an error message.

I have tried adding the email account using advanced settings but still no luck.

The same email account works fine on my other computers running both windows 10 and windows 11

    Did you completely remove the account and readd it per my steps above?

    I generated an app password for my Yahoo account a long time ago. Using an app password does not solve the problem. I tried generating a new app password and that didn't fix it.

    No problem. For reference, generating an app password does not change your account password.

    Can you open Mail then go to Settings > Help > Client Session ID and give me the number after the colon?

    Still the same issue with yahoo mail.

    Yes, that's the number I'm looking for. Here's a workaround you can try while folks here are looking into it. NOTE: This will only restore Yahoo Mail sync, and NOT calendar or contacts.

    1. Remove your existing Yahoo account.
    2. Re-add the Yahoo account and use "Other account, POP, IMAP"
    3. Generate an app password for the password Generate and manage third-party app passwords | Yahoo Help - SLN15241

    I know this isn't the ideal situation, but should restore email sync for the time being.

    Thanks for the workaround, but I created this in MS Mail just for testing, I don't want to change the password for my yahoo account.

    I use another client for yahoo.

    I'll wait for the proper fix.
