For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Today is "Patch Tuesday".  I believe the patch releases usually happen late in the morning and could be staggered.  I am going to keep clicking on the check now button under updates, and keep my fingers that the fix made it into today's release.

    Hi Everyone,

We have been receiving a lot of issues regarding this and we would like to inform you that we are releasing an update patch tomorrow to resolve this.

Please make sure to have your Surface devices connected to the internet so that it can automatically update or you can do a manual update so the patch can be installed.

    Regards.

Is this legit? To say nothing of the language not being particularly artful ("lots of issues regarding this"???), in my experience, MS never admits that it has "lots" of problems of any sort. This note also is not signed by anyone, much less someone with a clear MS affiliation.

MS, if this note was really posted by you, could you confirm that. If this message is a hoax, then I would appreciate MS also making a posting saying that it did not authorize the comment and is making no update.

If this is legit, then I am cautiously optimistic and thankful to those at MS who have been working on the issue.

i ve read on an article of zdnet: Update: A Microsoft spokesperson said the company had nothing more to say beyond the statement from "BryanH" quoted above. The company also is not quantifying beyond "a small group" the number of people affected by this issue.

so I guess its not a hoax.

    THANK YOU!

I have been looking up on this issue.

Have been experiencing the same with my SP i7 / 16 GB / 512 GB Storage....

    Very annoying.

Fingers crossed that the patch will come tomorow.

Will it be valid for DUTCH market as well? As I am from the Netherlands :-)

    Thanks

    Best regards

    Split from this thread.

Hello I bought the new Surface pro i7 16gb 1TB. And suddenly shuts off going to sleep then I made a Surface reset booting from a USB with the image downloaded from the website of Microsoft according to my surface pro. But that not solves the problem. This is a random problem not always happens and most of the time when goes to shut off I need to push the power on button to turn on again and the surface boots from the begin with the Microsoft logo and when Windows enters all was like before the sleep with programs open an all but is not funny. What could be the problem? This is very problematic because sometimes cold the equipment at the first time of turned on does the problem.

I hope someone can help or if anyone find a solution on a surface similar like mine?

    Thank you
