For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update
The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

I was also thinking that this issue might be affecting more than "a small group" of users. I'm sure there are some people who have decided to keep their device and silently wait for a fix from MS. When I returned my SP for a new one, the new one still had the hibernation issue. Either I got unlucky twice, or quite a few of the SPs have this problem.

Yep, my new Surface Pro 5 randomly hibernates 1-2 times per day. I don't lose work but it's very frustrating in a client-facing scenario.

This also happens to me too, except I don't lose any work. After turning off on its own I have to press the power button to turn it back on and it shows the black screen with the white windows logo, then it goes to the login page, then after logging back in everything I had open is still there, but it's still quite annoying.
