For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

I believe this is an issue related to the latest Creators Update. I have a SP4 and have the same issue. Random sleep, etc. In my case, I do think that there is a relationship with overheating. I has happened to me at least once or twice for the last few weeks. In some of those event, the machine seems to completely shut down, and right away I can turn it back on without any data loss. In only a few of these events, I have seem the temperature icon and a full restart is done.

What I just did was to disable the new feature "Allow windows to detect when you are away and automatically lock the device". Long shot, I know - but it is worth a try.

My surface when put to sleep will shut down. When I press power button it starts up and all previous work is lost. Not cool. Only thing that works is if I set all power setting to hibernate. It still shuts off completely when timed out but at least it remembers where I left off.
