For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Same for me - it has only happened when I'm on battery power. And it is always going into hibernate mode.

Microsoft are sending me a replacement device. The chat agent said he thinks it's a hardware fault. I'm sceptical, but am curious to see if the new one works OK.

I have a new Surface Pro i5/8gb/256gb and I also have the random hibernation problem.  The last time it happened I was watching a youtube video.  I see this in the event log:

The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded.

I have a the surface pen and connected but I wasn't using it.  No other bluetooth devices are connected  But this problem also occurred before I got the pen.

I have tried to use a customized power plan, still having the same issue. l don't think customized power plan is the fix for the problem.
