Surface Pro 2017 turning off or hibernating randomly!!!

For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

    For me, it only happens when I am not plugged in (although it has nothing at all to do with battery life - as it just happened and I am at 87% right now).   

    I will be working and then suddenly the screen goes black.  I can plug in and restart and everything is exactly where I left off (I have not lost any work yet - thank goodness).  

    I have the Surface Pro i5 256GB -- brand  new :(

    Hello,

    Yes I get the same issue. It occurs very frequently - about half a dozen times per day. I'm pretty sure it is hibernation and not sleep as pressing other keys does not wake the Surface Pro; a power button press is required. Also, it is not a shutdown as all my applications are open and documents I was editing are at the same point.

    The last event beore shutdown is always a Distributed COM error message:

    The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160}

     and APPID

    {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}

     to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

    Running on battery, 80% remaining, using a browser (FF), half a dozen other apps (desktop and Store) in the background.
