For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update
The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Microsoft surface just made an announcement about a new update for windows 10 to keep the surface performing at its best. Anyone tried it yet?

Yes, I installed the update this morning, and after that I got my first random hibernation.
Since then I chatted to Microsoft help and ran the Hardware troubleshooter in Settings. This found a problem and applied a fix. After a restart, so far, no hibernation. Let's see.
Ok, could ypu share how you did the fix for us? Thanks and now we know not to download the new update.
I don't think that not downloading the update will help. It's happening to people before the update, and according to elitolovell, it is happening even after it. I think the best thing to do is to download the update, see if it still happens, and report back here. Maybe this update doesn't even address the issue, I did a quick skim of the changelog and didn't see anything that specifically mentions the auto-shutdown that we're experiencing.
