For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update
The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

*I* know that Surface supportability is aware of the big thread and the smaller
ones too, because I keep sending them emails. Microsoft typically (and
unfortunately) does not apparently acknowledge issues or respond to threads
until such time that they have a fix (if they are able to provide one). I
personally disagree with the policy because it keeps customers in the dark.
(I personally have a new Surface Pro 2017).

This is very frustrating. I have a Surface Pro 2017 i7/256/8GB.
Has happened twice now. When I first try to log in it just shuts down and now wont turn back on!
This is not what I expect for an almost $2000 machine.
Microsoft fix this!!
I am having the SP17 I5 8GB and also the problem, that it randmly goes to sleep.
It happens at work in a bright room
while using OneNote2016
while writing with the Pen
while watching a movie in a dark room
while doing nothing, with OneNote2016 running in the background.
can you turn it on with a two button restart?
Step 1: press and hold the power button on your Surface for 30 seconds.
Step 2: press and hold volume-up button and the power button on your Surface at
the same time for at least 15 seconds, and then release both.
The screen may flash the Surface logo, but continue holding the buttons
down for at least 15 seconds.
Step 3: After you release the buttons, wait 10 seconds.
Step 4: Press and release the power button again to turn your Surface back on.
if you cant turn it on, return and repurchase.
