I originally thought that it is the mechanism in windows for the setting "Sleep when windows know that I am away." feature but even after turning that off, it didn't help. What I have noticed however is that this happens only in a bright environment. I
haven't had this occur to me in a darker work environment. Not sure if this is related to anything.
I can confirm that turning off the feature that attempts to "save power when windows knows I am away" does not prevent the issue from occurring.
I had previously only experienced it twice in as many weeks, however today it happened a couple more times. In both cases on battery power and every time it has been in our relatively brightly lit kitchen at work...??? coincidence?
For those concerned, I lived through the skylake sleep issues with the SP4 that were far more disruptive than this issue and even though they were the fault of the chipset (intel) MS didn't throw them under a bus or (officially) talk publicly about the
fix or timing thereof.
We're two weeks in to a launch of a new chipset for MS, I wouldn't expect any formal word from them but I would absolutely expect they are actively working on a fix.
