For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update
The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Can you elaborate on a couple of other items:
-Are you using any accessories (like a Surface Pen or Dial)?
-What physical position is the device in when it goes to Sleep: e.g. Laptop/Studio/Tablet? (visual examples of each@ https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/devices/surface-pro/overview)
-Have you made any changes to the power options: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options?
I have a Surface Pen and paired it with the Surface Pro, but was not using it. I also have a Dial, but have not paired it yet.
The device was in the laptop mode, with a keyboard and the "normal" tilt angle sitting on a table top.
I set my power options so that, when the computer is plugged in, the screen does not turn off and the computer does go to sleep/hibernate/turn off. I need it to stay on overnight so that any synchronization of files can be completed overnight.
Not accessories attached. I'm using in in tablet mode. Not made any changed to power settings. Have reset them to default. Still happens
I am also having this issue, on TWO surface pros I have, i5 and i7. This starts immediately after using this device and setting everything up.
-I have run all updates
-No signs of overheating
-happens on i7 and i5
-happens on battery and on power charger
-Thread on reddit about this - this seems like a widespread issue
