For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Had a chat with Microsoft support, and they told me that firmware 233.1763.257.0 can solve the problem.

In the Surface Pro Update History page they say that this firmware has been released on july, but my Surface is stuck with a previous version of the firmware and Windows Update doesn't find the latest version! Well, that's strange...

did you try running the MSI file from

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55484 ?

when you look at Windows Update history, are there any failed updates?

    Hello Bryan,

I am still having the same issue despite having the July firmware 233.1763.257.0 patch installed.

I have a Surface Pro tablet and I am not using any pen.

It happens when I disconnect from the power.

I hope Microsoft will spend some effort to solve this issue.

    Best regards,

    Hi

just bought my i5 surface pro one week ago. bought it for presentations and work but this glitch is bugging me out. I also updated to latest firmware and still got the problem. Happened yesterday when using onenote and no charger connected. battery went to 80% and screen went black and windows logo appeared when I pressed the on-button.

Nothing happened when it went down to 70%. But this is really annoying, I need to be able to rely on this thing working when im doin presentations. please fix this asap. I love the surface pro in comparison to the ipad, but this just makes me wonder if not the locked apple system is more stable and I dont want to go back :/
