Surface Pro 2017 turning off or hibernating randomly!!!

For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

I'm curious:
1. these are the new $99 Surface Pens?
2. when you use your pen, do you use the single and double click on the "eraser
end" frequently and if yes, do you see a correlation between doing that and

random shutdowns?
1. is your wife's Surface Pen even paired with her new SP?

My wife and I purchased "twin" Surface Pro tablets with new keyboards at our local Microsoft store on June 15 -- the first day they were available to buy. Each of our devices is entry-level with M3 CPU, 4GB RAM, and 128GB SSD.

My Surface Pro has experienced the random shutdowns; my wife's Surface Pro has not. The only difference between the way we use our Surface Pro devices is that I always use my Microsoft Surface Pen, and my wife never uses her Microsoft Surface Pen.

The random shutdowns are very frustrating. I will continue to monitor this thread, but I'm inclined to return my new Surface Pro to the Microsoft store for a refund before the 30-day deadline.

Adding a piece of information to Microsoft people (hoping they can reply with a solution).

Event viewer always shows the same list of errors and warnings before the incident:

First Error BTHUSB Event ID 17,

then 4 DeviceSetupManager Warnings (Event ID 202/200/202/201),

then Warning BTHUSB Event ID 34

and finally Error DistributedCOM Event ID 10016.

This sequence never changes and always occurs before hibernation.

If only one or two of these warnings or errors occur (e.g. Error DistributedCOM Event ID 10016 alone or even repeated several times), no problem, but when the above sequence completes, bang, hibernation.

I have had a very similar experience to MassimoSNZ above. My new Surface Pro shut down twice in the space of 20 minutes, and showed the same two errors in the event viewer both times (Event 17, BTUSB, followed by Event 10016, Distributed COM). I was browsing the internet at the time (using Chrome), on battery power (55% battery), with only a Type Cover attached.
