For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update
The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

I updated the driver, and the random hibernation still happens, though at a much lower frequency.
Can I ask if anyone has successfully updated the graphics driver (using the .zip version) and subsequently has not had any spontaneous sleep events ?
Here is an official MSFT page I found about this firmware update. It says "This update revises system power reporting". It doesn't say anything about fixing any bugs though.
No problem. I've had no random shut-down or hibernation issues since my original post on 7/9 and I really haven't noticed any significant impact to the power usage without the ability to hibernate.
Just remember that when we receive confirmation of a true solution from Microsoft you can re-enable hibernation by entering the following command from an elevated command prompt: "powercfg /h /type full". That will increase the size of the hiberfile back to the original and the device should then be able to go into hibernation when appropriate.
