For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

    Hello

What you need to do in order to fix this issue require a lot of work.

You must download from microsoft a recovery image from this surface pro 2017.

Then create the image with a pen usb 16 gb.

    After this follow this link

in order to recover your surface pro.

I have done this with my surface and no more hibernations.

I've installed the the 7/14 firmware update and also installed the msi file separately, but the random hibernation problem still exists. Please let me know if Microsoft is still actively working on additional fix, otherwise I might need replacement.

My device is Surface Pro 2017, i5/8G/256G with older model of alcantara type cover from SP4 i3 bundle.

For me, the problem persisted after applying the 7/14 Windows Update.  Then on 7/28 I performed a full system reset, and it has been working properly ever since.
