For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update
The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Is there any way that we users encountering this issue can provide data to help speed up the investigation?
I'm also having this issue more recently. The first little while I didn't seem to have a problem, I think the first two times it happened I thought I had hit some kind of a key or hotkey I wasn't aware of to send it into hibernate/sleep, but this now happens randomly whether I'm using the Surface Pro or not.
I have very few programs installed, i5 256GB version. I only have the typecase as an accessory. I haven't experienced much overheating when performing normal processes, however I do play one videogame and it does get warm (but this is understandable), a little on the hot side, but does not appear to effect performance or cause any shutdowns. Most recently, I've been using my surface for a presentation and it shut off/slept twice without any immediate interaction, but not long enough time to justify an automatic sleep.
Just started my surface i5 8gb 256gb and I have this issue. No accessories used.
Hibernates every time I close an application, everytime I open an application, and every time I press the start button.
This makes the device pretty much useless. This is poor from Microsoft, how could this not be found during testing??
When will this be fixed?
When you spend this sort of money on a device you expect it to actually work.
You are right. I think we deserve to get our money back because we are more like testing team, one that microsoft probably never had for surface pro.
