For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

The smell will go away. I actually kind of like the smell, and now it's gone from my keyboard... :(

Try putting your keyboard in a sunny window, you may need to expose both sides to sunlight. Don't bake it (there are electronics inside), so be careful if you live in the south/southwest. Sunlight works wonders on smelly fabrics, animals, children, etc.

just sent mine back. will wait until quality is consistently good before considering again.

In my opinion the device had only two defects: the smell of the keyboard and it is slowly (very slowly indeed) vanishnig and random hibernation, quite annoying and should not have happened and I almost reached the end of the return window (1 week left) waiting for a solution, but...

... if today's update solves this problem (in the last 3 hours since I updated no hibernation) I really don't know what else to ask for in terms of quality... a snon-smelling keyboard, perhaps?
