For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Can I suggest looking at this as a possible solution to the hibernation issue (see post by user eckka):

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpronew-surfdrivers/surface-pro-2017-resume-with-external-monitor/5aafe641-e0f8-4f06-8b44-d42308134e79

This post is to do with an external monitor issue but seems to have also helped (so far) with other Surface display issues I was having including hibernation.

Key point is to swap out update KB4022716 for update KB4022725.

Well the the Software Repair tool didnt help. From the Online chat of Microsoft i was told to try wit the USB recovery and if it doesnt help i should change it for a new device. Did anybody used the step with the USB? I was told, i have to save all my datas or i will lose them all.

Just arranged to send mine back :-(

Too expensive to live with this kind of fault.

    Shame. Good computer otherwise.

I was considering the idea of replacing my Surface Pro with a Surface Laptop that has similar characteristics (no SD slot, but that is not a deal-breaker for me and cannot be used as a tablet, again, doesn't matter for me).

I asked on the Laptop forum if somebody has had this issue (I could not find any comment on the Internet about a similar problem with the Surface Laptop).

What do you think about this solution?
