For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,
As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update
The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

I did a reset, 2 times. It has not resolved the issue! I also did the setup as you noted and the updates as you noted. The problem persists.
I also have the same problem. I do not use any accessory with my Surface pro. It happens totally randomly in different states. Here are some reports from Event Viewer (I guess one of the drivers crashes):

I believe that there was a grey only Alcantara Signature type cover for the SP4 that has been available for a while. The new Surface Pro type covers don't have Surface Pro 4 anywhere on the box - front or back -
Which is funny. When I had the shutdown issues It happened when I had the keyboard attached as well as when it wasn't. In fact, when I used it in tablet mode with no keyboard it was happening every 10-20 min.
