For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

You're not the only one experiencing this. I have brand new Surface Pro (core M version) that does go to sleep mode randomly.

I have installed all the updates available through Windows Update service but that did not help. I just experienced this bug / phenomenon 15 mins ago. How do I get MS look at it?

It seems, that You have to have W10 1709.

I have compilation 1709 and i have instaled firmware without any problems.

Since then i do not have any problems with hibernating of my Surface.

One more thing, I have instaled only newest firmware without changing any settings in my Surface.

I tried installing the newest firmware. It wouldn't let me because I'm still on W10 1703 and the newest firmware can apparently only be installed on W10 1709.

Other than that I changed the following setting:

Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Save power when my device knows I'm away

Since I deactivated that I didn't have the random sleep problem anymore. If something changes I will update you.

If the Problem returns even on the newest Firmware you can try to deactivate this Setting as well...

    Best regards
