For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

I continue to have the hibernation issue whichhas resulted in a lot of button pushing to get my Surface Pro 3 to boot up. Now after the recent update my Surface Pro 3 is a brick, I can not get it to boot up in any way or fashion.

I have been having the same hibernation issue and it has been taking a lot of button pushing to get my Surface Pro 3 to boot up.  Now after installing the latest update, I can not get it to boot up at all! Microsoft has killed my Surface Pro 3.

I have checked event viewer. side by side to another surface. some errors are the same and are no problem. But I get both a thermal error and also a different error and my surface does not seems to hibernate, but actually locks up. Sorry I do not have log file.

This happens when I am plugged into the dock station and I have two monitors running. It has also happens on battery when I have an external monitor plugged in. But not when on battery with no additional monitor.

I now have been running with my dock station and 2 monitors for two full days with no problem. So very random.

I have installed software to monitor core temp. I am normally running at mid 50 C. but it will jump up to 98 or even 100 C very quickly. Then come back down.

I travel a lot so it is difficult for me to get the time to send this back in. I hope that I can get to a store in a couple of weeks. It is very frustrating. But it seems to be hardware related and an update to software will not fix it.

Otherwise, I love the surface and when it works, it is great.

    Hello Lotte,

I also used my Surface Pro to attend my studies classes. And I tried to put up with it because I needed it for the classes. But finally I decided to send the equipment to change because it was getting worse and worse and because it was clear that it just was not going to fix itself.

Try someone lends you a laptop with Office or LibreOffice (perhaps the school can) and wait a week or two until you get the new device. It's a small effort, but it's worth it.

    Regards,

    Juan

PS: After one week I've got a new Surface Pro at home. It seems to work perfect!!

I was wishing to do that my box is at home but my mum bring it this week so i can finally do that. Its just I dont know how to send it back. Do you have to apply somewhere and explain the problem and to which adress do you send?

    Thanks in advance ^^
