For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

    Hello,

I have returned my Surface Pro '2017 to Microsoft for these reasons:

    1. He began to hibernate randomly. It seems that it happens when, working with batteries, it reaches 80% of its capacity. It's as if some optimization procedures started to run and then, suddenly, it shuts down.
    2. Yesterday, when connecting the Arc Bluetooth mouse, the screen went black and the S.O. Windows 10 did not respond. Trying to start it again (following the instructions gathered using my mobile phone), I finally managed to reboot it. But every time Windows 10 started, it stayed about two minutes with the screen in black, as inert, before showing the login screen, which is unacceptable for a premium set. This happened every time the Surface was turned on.
    3. Because the situation in step 2 was unacceptable, I performed the recovery of a system from my SurfacePro. After that, the system started quickly, but the Windows 10 operating system remained in a catastrophic state: without Edge (or any other browser), without being able to open the Windows Configuration, without being able to access the notification panel, ... a disaster .

For these reasons, I have returned Surface Pro. I hope you send me a new one as soon as possible because I need it to go to class.

    Regards,

    Juan

    Same here!

I've manually installed the latest firmware and it doesn't fixed anything until I've decided to factory reset the Surface.

Since then it seems to work fine.

So, if you still have the problem try to install the firmware and then perform a factory reset.

    Regards

    Luciano

Hi there, just to let you know that the firmware update didn't fix mine either and I went for a couple of weeks continuing with the problem.

However, when I "reset" the device this morning prior to sending it back, it now works OK!!

    Therefore what worked for me...

    1. Apply latest firmware
    2. Then reset the device

    Regards

    John

Which hotfix issue number is that 7/14 update?

I recently bought a i5 8g 256g new surface pro, signature alcantara keyboard. Same issue here when I am typing, it happen in a sudden, unexpected sudden black screen (hibernate).
