For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update
The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

make sure the "save energy when my device notices I am away" nonsense option is turned off, it is buggy. it means Windows 10 will randomly go hibernate, when it "decides" it is the right time.

I am providing the following info in hopes that it will be helpful to your team.
Something continues to be amiss. Yesterday, I downloaded the latest Surface drivers and applied the update manually. Last night, I used my Surface (m3) to watch a live streaming video cast. I set the Power Mode to "Best Performance" and also used my MS wireless display adapter to connect to my TV. All ran well for 30 minutes and then my Surface seemed to hibernate; the screen went black and audio and video simply stopped. I think it hibernated because it order to bring the device back up it was necessary to hold the power button down for around 15-20 seconds. If the device crashed, then I assume that powering up would have not required holding the power button down so long. This type of failure occurred twice last night.
As a side note, I have been having a different issue right from the beginning, which is quite serious for me. I initially assumed it is linked with the hibernation issue, but now that that has been resolved this still continues: my micro SD card randomly ejects itself. If I am working on a document saved on the SD card, it means the document can get corrupted and I could loose it forever. Sometimes days go by and there is no issue. Other times it happens several times within as short a period as half an hour. The SD card I am using is a new high quality high speed Kingston micro SD card. I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this with their device, and if anyone has any advice. I will open a new thread for this question, however, since many surface Pro users have been following this thread, I thought it would be useful to add it here too.

I have experienced the same issue for years on my Surface Pro, the first edition, my micro-SD card going on and off randomly, just like you described. The card is SanDisk 128GB, and there was a SanDisk 64GB first, with the same problems. The only reason I didn't care much was that I only kept movie and music files on it, pointing the card as iTunes storage, so the files were easy to re-download in case anything went wrong. The only things that went wrong so far were movies sometimes refusing to play until I removed/re-inserted the card. But because mine is a different version of the Surface, the issue is probably related to the system and not the hardware. Please create a thread dedicated to this question and post a link in here.
