Hi BryanH,
It may be there remains some sort of problem that the fix for the hibernation issue did not address.
I was using my new Surface Pro (m3) last night on a flight home. It was dark in the airplane cabin so I disabled the automatic brightness settings and manually set it to the lowest brightness level. I used the device for several minutes using Outlook.
I closed the device for a few, and when I opened it back up the screen became very bright. I checked the brightness setting and found them as I left them, auto-brightness disabled. I then re-enabled automatic brightness and then disabled it again with no
change in brightness. I restarted the Surface at that point. When it came back up it operated fine for a few moments, but then the display became bright on its own. When I tried to mess with the brightness settings the screen went blank -- I thought it
crashed. I pressed the power button and it came back up slowly, but when I logged back in Outlook was found to still be running. So, somehow, the Surface sent itself into hibernation. By the way, I was running this Surface on the Power Mode for "best battery
life."
I purchased this about two weeks ago. Other than this one event, this Surface Pro (m3) has worked perfectly with no issues. I am really impressed with this m3 processor. It runs very well and seems only slow when installing large programs, working with
large graphic files or working with large Power Pivot data models.
I would definitely recommend the Surface Pro m3 to anyone who is wondering. It really is an awesome device.
