For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Dear fellow sufferers, sadly I have to inform you, that Microsoft considers this issue as solved/closed and therefore I suspect they won't reply any more to this thread. The only way to keep them engaged is to open up an individual support ticket. So far I've chatted with them for 3 hours but without any success, just today it happened to me twice again. Need to contact them again tomorrow. One big embarassing neverending tragedy. ;-(((((

Same for me. Bought a surface pro 2017 i5 256g a month ago. All available updates are up to date.

The screen goes dark randomly (goes into sleep). I have to hit the power button to get it back on, then the windows logo appeirs and then it goes through login, to finally be back to where it was. VERY annoying and irritating. For a 1600$ laptop sold as a productivity tool, it is not acceptable that it shuts off randomly mid-work.

Hello Surface Team, this is still happening despite the installed Microsoft Update Fix 233.1763.257.0 firmware update.  I have a "new" 2017 Surface Pro with keyboard and stylus. I7, Windows 10 Pro, 10.0.15063 Build 15063, 16BG Ram.  It most often happens while attached to my MS Surface docking station during active use.  Typing, mouse usage, browsing - doesn't matter - goes into sleep mode with no warning.  In fact, it seems that as activity increases it is more likely to go to sleep. I.e. Visual Studio project builds while also browsing using Chrome.  Great device but this is a substantial issue for the money paid.  Please advise.

Just got my surface book same issue. i dont have any issue of randomly going to sleep or hibernating (i only had the surface book for one week) but every time the system hibernates 5 out of 7 all my apps were closed when it came back. the system setting was set to hibernate after 360 min. i have disabled hibernation for now but not an encouraging start.
