For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

As of the 1st August 2017 this is still not resolved. When can we expect a resolution?

So its now the 30/7 and it seems that so many people (if not all) are STILL experiencing this issue, post patching as per Microsoft's recommendation.

When can the public expect a resolution to this problem? - or is Microsoft going to refund all Surface sales for providing a faulty product? We just want a computer that works, is it that too hard to ask?

Please as a frustrated user, when is this issue going to be resolved?

The resolution that has been provided by Microsoft fixed the issue for me. I would guess, considering the number of complaints still arriving here (just a few compared to the hundreds before), that it has probably fixed the issue for the vast majority of people.

Having said that, if you are still experiencing the random hibernations, you should probably consider the idea of replacing your unit.

I must admit that I also changed the Nvidia drivers: when I did it, before Microsoft's patch, it did not change anything. But perhaps it "helped" when the patch was installed (I doubt that it made any difference, but just in case ...).

aaah I see, as a customer of Microsoft who was stupid enough to buy their new expensive faulty product right at the beginning I also have to play Indiana Jones and fight through various forums to find a solution... R I D I C U L O U S

I'm trying to stay calm although I am apoplectic with rage. My patience is over soon.

you would probably get this link if you posted in the German language forum.
