For some reason my new Surface is shutting off randomly. I check the setting and a few other things but it's still randomly turns off without warning. I'm losing some of my school work because of it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey Everyone,

As of 7/14, the fix for this issue has completed testing and is now live, please go update your Surface Pro via Windows Update to get the latest download. You can obtain this fix by checking Settings> Update & security > Windows Update

The Surface Pro Update History page has been updated with the details of this release and the update is also available on the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page as part of the MSI installation package available for download.

Sadly I haven't received the mentioned firmware version although I ran the update manually on a daily basis. In the history it shows "Surface - Firmware - 5/18/2017 12:00:00 AM - 165.0.1.0". To turn off "save me power when my device knows I'm away." does not have any positive impact.

When can I expect a proper fix?

If I need to download a MSI package, please provide the link to a swiss/german version.

7/12 Update: Just wanted to provide additional information that this fix was not included in the 7/11 Windows update, as testing still continues. I will update this posting when the update is available, also the Surface Pro Update History page will also be updated with the details when it launches.

    mine does that too.

I believe it is supposed to do that it is called "adaptive hibernation".

if you don't want it to hibernate go to settings > system > power and sleep and turn off the

"save me power when my device knows I'm away.

tough call to make. how often is the unexpected hibernate occurring?

    >>If the issue continues after this, what would you recommend to do? Return the device and swap for another one or wait for a fix that solves it?
