Bluetooth Issues Since Surface Updates - 5 August 2021

Ya, $599 for the privilege of owning a replica of what you have now, complete with the same **** Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth radio adapter. If it broke before, it can break again.

My iPad Pro comes tomorrow - and- I’ll be glad to join the class.

Well, after two full proper reinstalls (that resetting feature was ****), I've rolled it back to the October 2020 update (20H2). Have paused my updates for the moment, but the machine is glitchy AF in general at this point. I can safely say I'll definitely be looking at an iPad Pro in the future but as I need a full operating system, my next purchase will likely be a nice little Mac mini. I'm hoping they update their next version using the M1 chip to handle more ram, as I'd like to avoid intel chips as well at this point.

That said, when the caca first hit the fan last month, I dug out an old Asus vivobook from 2012 that was running windows 8. And that little machine allowed me to update it to Windows 10 (with the help of some great online tuts) and has been my major workhorse over the last month due to the surface largely being useless. It even has a touchscreen. So a machine from 2012 running a slower, outdated i5 chip and all of 4GB of RAM can run windows 10 including this crappy 21H1 update AND works with all my bluetooth peripherals (ironically, it has 3 USB ports and I need none of them). But my Surface Pro 2017 can't run ANY bluetooth peripherals if I allow the last update. And even likes to just randomly turn itself off now depending on what I'm doing, regardless of what update it has. The Asus cost me around $600 CDN originally (and not only stays on, but also has better battery life than the surface). The Surface Pro cost over $2k CDN after the chip/ram upgrades and peripherals were included.

So yeah. Microsoft can suck it. I'll be dropping a load of cash at Apple sooner rather than later and if I decide I do need another windows machine, rest assured it will be an Asus model since apparently even their lower end basic units will continue working and updating successfully almost a decade later, yet a Microsoft-made machine can't even make it to 5 bloody years without major problems.

Shame on Microsoft, shame on their Surface department, and sionara. I will never purchase another Microsoft-made machine again.

Good afternoon all. I am assuming that no one has received any updated drivers yet to resolve this issue. I had been making do with a wired mouse and periodically having to reboot to get my bluetooth keyboard to work. Today, I had to pair my keyboard again and, since then, the keyboard will not remain connected for more that 15 minutes (i.e. the same issue that I first had with the mouse). So I have now moved to Plan B and ordered a bluetooth dongle. Hopefully that will work for me. In the meantime, I'm having to dig out an old wired keyboard. I suppose that MS has given up in us SP5, 6 and 7 users.
