Bluetooth Issues Since Surface Updates - 5 August 2021

The Bluetooth on my Surface Pro (5th Gen) has not been working properly since the Surface Firmware Updates this morning. I have to restart to get it to work and then it only works properly for about 5 minutes. I have tried rolling back and reinstalling the Marvell driver. Also the Bluetooth troubleshooter doesn’t fix it. Running that troubleshooter causes Bluetooth to completely stop working. Will you please fix this urgently as it is a major issue for me?

I did #2, but I also turned off letting any updates post for 30 days. so far I have gone a whole day without losing my bt.

So strange, I just tried #2 as well this morning -- uninstalled Marvell driver, restarted computer (after restart it is now Driver Date 1/21/2020 version 15.68.17018.116), I paused all updates for 30 days. BT worked briefly and then cut out after about 20 minutes again, as usual. Now in the Device Manager, in the Marvell Adapter properties the Device Status says, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" -- same error code I had supposedly fixed after I ran the troubleshooter a few days ago.

Guess I'll just keep using my USB mouse and type cover until MS figures this mess out. 🙄

I have this board on alert so if anyone figures anything out keep us updated!

BLuetooth stops after 1-30 minutes. Hard restart (ie turn it off) always fixes it. surface Pro 5th.

Marvell Avastar shows error code 43.

    Hi TrevorFayers,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

To make sure first: May I know which Surface Pro model do you have? Surface Pro 7 uses the Intel Wireless Bluetooth adapter, not the Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio adapter.

For the issue you are experiencing, your Bluetooth devices connected on the device connected for only about 5 minutes after the update and now none of your Bluetooth devices connects to the device, correct?

May I know what is the current version of the Bluetooth Radio adapter installed on the device? Go to Device Manager, expand Bluetooth and double-click on the Bluetooth Radio adapter then go to its Driver tab. Take note of the Driver version.

Kindly run these steps below first on your Surface then see if the issue persist:

1: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check Windows Update

    2: Update drivers and firmware

Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About.

Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose your Surface model then click Download on the next page.

Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

    3: Uninstall/Re-install

    Open Device Manager, expand Bluetooth

Right-click the Bluetooth Radio adapter and choose Uninstall device

Note: Leave box uncheck to Delete the driver software

    Restart your Surface

If Microsoft rolls out an update and stops ALL of our bluetooth devices from working the issue is on them. We should not have to spend 60 minutes futzing around to fix a problem of their making. If I have to spend my free time troubleshooting and maintaining my tablet why shouldn't I just buy a cheaper piece of hardware? For the record I am using a Microsoft Sculpt bluetooth mouse which the Surface Pro doesn't recognize 5 minutes after I reboot. If I have to reboot my tablet every 5 minutes that is not tenable.

Your OS build is irrelevant if you're using a Surface Pro device, if we pay a premium to have a Surface Pro device we should not be subjected to inane questions like what bluetooth driver are we using since every facet of our devices are designed by the manufacturer. If we have to put up with this BS we might as well save a lot of money and get a much cheaper device. Really pissed at Microsoft right now.
