Bluetooth Issues Since Surface Updates - 5 August 2021

The Bluetooth on my Surface Pro (5th Gen) has not been working properly since the Surface Firmware Updates this morning. I have to restart to get it to work and then it only works properly for about 5 minutes. I have tried rolling back and reinstalling the Marvell driver. Also the Bluetooth troubleshooter doesn’t fix it. Running that troubleshooter causes Bluetooth to completely stop working. Will you please fix this urgently as it is a major issue for me?

    Hey Guys,

    That's been a depressing journey.

I just spoke to a friend who works in customer care services of an IT company in San Francisco. He said that one thing all IT companies are super wary of are comments on their social media accounts, especially Facebook and Twitter. They act super fast because they don't want any bad-mass-publicity.

Maybe, those of you who have on it accounts (I deleted all my social media profiles unfortunately :/) can copy the issues we discussed here on official Microsoft/Microsoft Surface Accounts on FB/Twitter. There is no harm trying, I guess.

I am sorry, but I don't want to put in so much more money in a new laptop, when apart from the BT everything else seems to still be working fine. I am a student so that's a lot of unwanted cost for me.

Maybe worth a try. We have nothing to lose more (besides our Surfaces)!

Bon courage to all of you suffering this Microsoft's nuisance!

Yes, I have heard from them. Long story made short, the August Windows Update broke the BT radio adapter and Microsoft says it cannot be fixed. It's affecting you, me, and thousands of fellow Surface users around the globe. If you go to earlier posts in this thread you can read the entire sad tale.

In my case, my Surface Book 2 is out of warranty. So the remedy for me is to send them the machine along with $599 and they will send me an exact replica of my broken unit that they promise will work just fine.

Unfortunately, I do not believe them. A Marvell AVASTAR BT Radio Adapter, integral to my broken computer and also to a replacement machine, is not a dependable component as far as I am concerned. If it broke once, it will break again. A waste of a good $599.

So I showed them. I just spent almost four times as much and bought a 2021 iPad Pro. It's arriving Friday. It will be nice to have a device that works. No, it's not a laptop but Apple has been very customer-oriented with me and my wife in issues that have popped up with our Apple devices.

The latest example: this spring I installed the beta of iOS 14.5 so I could unlock my phone via my watch while wearing a mask. When the gold version of 14.5 rolled out and I tried to install it, it bricked my iPhone XS. Fortunately for me, I had a trip scheduled to a city with an Apple Store. I visited the store. They thought they could fix it but they couldn't. My XS was out of warranty. Sound familiar? Well, they ended up giving me a brand new iPhone XS, and a high-capacity charger just for good measure. GAVE it to me. And much to my further delight, it came with a year of free Apple TV+.

You may say, well, you caused your own problem by installing the beta. Maybe I did. But the people at that Apple Store took full accountability anyway, and did right by me. Beats the five across the chops that I got from Microsoft.

My long story made short was not so short, sorry about that.
