Bluetooth Issues Since Surface Updates - 5 August 2021

The Bluetooth on my Surface Pro (5th Gen) has not been working properly since the Surface Firmware Updates this morning. I have to restart to get it to work and then it only works properly for about 5 minutes. I have tried rolling back and reinstalling the Marvell driver. Also the Bluetooth troubleshooter doesn’t fix it. Running that troubleshooter causes Bluetooth to completely stop working. Will you please fix this urgently as it is a major issue for me?

I have a Surface Pro 3 with similar problems. My Marvel Bluetooth Adapter driver version is 15.68.9127.58.

I just found a workaround that works in my case and perhaps can work for others. I noticed that when my BT stops working, an unidentified USB device shows up in Device Manager with an unknown error and BT no longer appears, unless I chose to show hidden devices.

Here's the thing: If I remove the non-functioning USB device and scan for HW changes, it picks up BT once more and it will work for a long-ish time.

Annoying and far from ideal but it does beat some of the other workarounds I've read.

    I hope this helps others.

Going strong for days at a stretch, hours at a time (SP 5) with...

    1. uninstall Marvell Bluetooth, AND drivers
    2. uninstall Marvell Network adapter, AND drivers
    3. reboot.
    4. This should get you old drivers, mine were ca. 2016. I have heard that others got some other ones. Just make sure they are old.
    5. Important: go into "type here to search" and type "gpedit." go through the directories as follows: computer configuration; administrative templates; windows components; windows updates; then click on "don't include drivers with windows components"...change the option on the screen this to "enabled"
    6. This will keep windows from doing what is "best" for you and reinstalling the new/bad drivers again at a later date.

On two occasions I have had to disconnect and reconnect my BT keyboard. No reboot necessary. Small price to pay.

Same problem for me, Surface Book 2. What's going on? Uninstalling/installing; temporary. Switching to Generic; temporary. Restarting computer; temporary. Please deliver on a fix, if we have surface devices, we've bought in, don't lose a customer base that is already dwindling because of Windows 11 shenanigans.

Update 8/26/2021 - I stopped rebooting my Surface Pro 2017 and my BT devices would randomly reconnect. As of this typing my MS mouse and generic earbud and connected but when I went through this exercise yesterday after less than 10 minutes I lost connectivity. The weird thing is this is without any involvement on my part whatsoever, the BT is turning off and on without my involvement. Next move Microsoft - if you are trying to convert MS fanboys into Apple fanboys you are doing a pretty good job.

Yep! I tried that also a few days ago and again yesterday. Didn't last long. Figers crossed for you!
