64 bit emulator surface pro x

Excellent! I hope you can do something useful without crashing Matlab. It has so many modules. How do you know if this is not a 32-bit version of Matlab? New installation of Matlab is run totally from a webpage, so you may not see which version you are installing. Did you try recent Mathematica version, the current is 12.3. If Mathematica is running under x64 emulator, I will pass to Insiders´ builds. I think, I cannot wait till November 2021 for big update of 21H2.

Yet another post with zero specifics and a lot of unsupported claims.  As a white-collar professional I can run all the apps I use on a regular that worked on my SP7:

1. Statistical software: SPSS, R-Studio
2. MS Office apps:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote
3. PDF apps:  Drawboard PDF, PDF Pro Reader, ReadLoud
4. Snapdrop

The only downside is that my battery life has taken a hit and dropped from 11.5-12 hours of continuous YouTube viewing (40% brightness, battery saver on) to 9.5-10 hours.  

UPDATE: After uninstalling the "KB5003266" update, battery life has returned to 11.5-12 hours...

Did you try to run: 

1. Matlab or 

2. Mathematica 12.2

in an x64 emulator? 

I am not sure if Matlab in recent installations (2021a) can be run or installed in x32. If on top of that you can run Ubuntu with WSL2 and get Xwindows native GUI support and if you tell me yes for points 1 or 2 above that they were running without crashes, I may consider using Insider version of Windows for my Surface Pro X. I happily run Insiders´ version on some Intel machine.

I have had my Surface Pro X for over a year now.   That was probably a year after they came out.  Microsoft has BS'd everyone on this.

I am curious where you got your info about the 64 bit app support?  Is it sales people telling potential customers this feature is coming very soon or something? Does Microsoft actually say that x64 app support is coming soon in some marketing material? 

I'm just wanting to understand where this incorrect information is coming from, because my expectations seem to have been very different from others regarding this. From my reading tech news, when Microsoft did finally say they were working on x64 translation it, no definite date was set; only a vague "more than a year away" comment. The only timeframe I've seen so far was when they announced it was arrive in an insider build late fall 2020, and that's exactly what has happened. I have seen no announcement on when the feature will be released to stables builds. Tech writers have theorized it'll be the fall 2021 feature update, and while they are quite likely correct, that's still not official communication.

Side note: The Microsoft webstore actually has a note on the Pro X page that says if you use 64-bit apps then you should get a Pro 7. I have no idea how long that's been there, but hopefully that'll help avoid confusion until the 64-bit translation arrives.

The above said, if you're doing basic Office 365 stuff, Teams, notetaking and alike - the laptop performs fine. It just won't run a 64 bit program.  The only thing that runs really slow is 1Password.

It would serve Microsoft right if someone did a class action lawsuit against them.  They certainly deceived their customers.

I have been asking this question for some time now without a viable answer.

When I was convinced to buy this item, it came with a promise of 64bit emulator being very soon to follow, however this is now eight months later and still no idea how long we will have to wait.

I know that the emulator is currently available on the insider program, but all indicators are that its even more buggy than the somewhat limited 32bit emulator.

I'm surprised that Microsoft have not resolved the issues with this device as it would seem that they intend to peruse ARM technology in many future devices.

If the current state of play continues it could spell out disaster for this platform.

I have to say that there have been many updates for the pro x and it has improved over time, however many bugs and issues still remain and customer support for the pro x is at best very poor with the staff having little knowledge of the technical issues found on a daily basis.

Customer services have so far bricked the device on three occasions requiring hours of reloading and total loss of all data and without resolving the original problem (don't let them reset your device or set up phantom accounts) this doesn't work and creates more problems.

I have to say that given the choice again this device would not be on my shopping list.

The recent updates have made improvements and the device is now more stable than it was but without 64bit bug free emulator its very limited, Great looks and feel but don't judge the book by its cover, 

If you intend to use only store apps and basic 32bit programs for surfing and emailing all is good, but for any serious use it fails badly at present, which is truly a shame as the device has great potential but is poorly supported from my own personal experience.

At present its only a little above windows other failed ARM devices using RT which of course is no longer supported.
