Surface Pro 2.5 i5 4300U 1.9 Ghz 2.5 Ghz

I recently purchased the Surface Pro 2 (SP2) in December 2013. After reading this thread I called back into the Microsoft Store direct to inquire as to why I did not get the most recent unit. The very helpful person on the line, Marina, took my initial Order information and the link to this thread. She put me on hold and did some research for probably 10 minutes. She came back on the phone and said that based on your order and the product, SP2 with 512 GB drive and 8 GB RAM, that you purchased (shown below) that you have the most recent processor that we have today.

Product SKU: 7SX-00001

My CPU is the i5-4200 2.30GHz

They said that they no nothing about a faster unit in the SP2 as mentioned in this thread of posts.

Not sure, who to believe but that is right from the Store source.

In Canada, I talked with a Microsoft Store rep and was told that they haven't received any stock of SP2 over the past couple of weeks BECAUSE of the new SP2. The other rep nearby found this surprising. I suspect that most of the people working at Microsoft Stores don't know anything about this.

Benchmarking programs and CPU-Z generally don't lie either.

If you can, just wait a week for newer stock to reach stores and then go in and request an exchange for a newer unit.

I called the Microsoft Store today and asked specifically if I ordered the 512gb SP2 whether or not I'd get the newer CPU.  The rep told me if there was a change of chip component in the device, that wasn't something they would be made aware of at the Microsoft Store.  She gave me the phone number for tech support -- I tried calling, but after 40 minutes of waiting with the speakerphone on, I got tired of the muzak ;-)  If you'd like to try: 855-883-8672 -- though I suspect they wouldn't know what's currently shipping either.

I've had mine for less than 2 weeks, returned it to the store today, what a bummer. Not sure if I'm really all that keen to order another, at least not in the next few weeks considering I have no way of knowing if I'd be ordering a unit with an older processor or not.

Hey Guy and anyone else with the new SP2,

On the box, there should be a sticker that features the lot #. What lot # do you have? This will give us an idea of which boxes contain the new SP2.

Just picked up 2 new SP2 128GB's from Best Buy with the new proc.  They both have the following box markings:

LOT NO./

DATE: 1351

MODEL NO.: 1601

UPC codes: 8 85370 65869 9

I just purchased my surface pro 2 yesterday from bestbuy and I have the same model number and UPC code. However my LOT NO. is different, min is 1350. I do not want to open it if its the older processor because I would rather just return it since I havent opened it and wait till they receive shipment of the new one.

Do you know if mine contains the new 4300 processor?
